The Best Green Rebates:
You’ve heard that there are green building incentives out there. Whether your project consists of something as simple as installing a new appliance or a more elaborate undertaking, you may be eligible for financial rewards in the form of rebates, loans, or tax breaks. To find out how to cash in on energy efficiency, start with these resources devoted to helping you do just that.

1.) Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency (DSIRE) – The website is searchable by state for a comprehensive source of information on state, local, utility, and federal incentives that promote renewable, efficient energy.
2.) Energy Star offers rebates and tax credits for purchasing energy efficient products. They even have a rebate finder on their website. Simply type in your zip code and the product type you are looking for.
3.) The Energy Policy Act of 2005 established a federal tax credit for homes exceeding the energy performance threshold spelled out in the 2004 International Energy Conservation Code. See if your energy efficient home improvement project qualifies for a tax credit.
4.) The federal government also offers a solar tax credit for up to $2000 on photovoltaics and solar heating.
5.) Utility companies like PG&E offer residential rebates for installing energy efficient products and residential cool roofs.
6.) Smart Communities Network puts out a list of funding opportunities for a myriad of energy efficient projects.
